Time Takes carves time with paint. Through methodical and meditative creation, a space is built that is filled with joy and renewal amidst grief and anxiety. Flat and static renderings of floral mazes capture a space of two truths; being stuck within the same compositions, and processing through them. The colour of one painting’s last layer becomes the first for the next piece – continuing through the work, layering of the past and present, allowing them to remain and resurface. The repetition of the movements, the same shapes taking form in different ways, allows one to sit with grief, asking, “Does one repeat what they still hold onto, or repeat what they need to learn?” Together they form a large windowpane; looking through to the past, sitting with the present, and awaiting the future.
