Accessibility Statement

Accessibility and inclusion are core values at Centre[4]Arts. We believe that art and creative expression should be accessible to everyone, both online and in our physical spaces.

We are committed to continuous improvement and to making our website and in-person spaces inclusive to all communities.

Digital Accessibility

Centre[4]Arts is committed to making our digital presence as accessible and inclusive as reasonably possible for all users, including individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to improve the usability of centre4arts.com and to support a more accessible experience for everyone, regardless of their abilities or the technologies they use.

We aim to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), which outline how to make websites more accessible and user-friendly for all. Accessibility is an ongoing process, and we are committed to improving the experience over time as technologies, standards, and user needs evolve.

While we strive to ensure accessibility, we cannot guarantee that every part of centre4arts.com will be fully accessible at all times. Some content may be provided by third parties or affected by technical constraints beyond our immediate control.

Our Ongoing Efforts:

  • We designed and developed our website with accessibility in mind from the start.

  • We regularly review our content, navigation, and media to maintain usability and inclusivity.

  • We provide alternative text for images, and a screen reader-accessible structure for headings and links.

  • We aim to improve the accessibility of our online gallery exhibitions with embedded audio and video supplements.

  • We provide a OneTap accessibility toolbar widget that provides users with a range of helpful features, including:
    • Adjustable text size and contrast settings
    • Highlighting of links and text for better visibility
    • Full keyboard navigation of the toolbar interface
    • Quick launch via keyboard shortcut: Alt + . (on Windows) or ⌘ + . (on Mac)

In-Person Accessibility

Centre[4]Arts is committed to accommodating diverse accessibility needs to the best of our ability.

Our studio locations are partially physically accessible. At 173 James St N, we provide a button-operated entrance door and an accessible main floor leading to our information desk, both galleries, an accessible washroom, the Traditional Printmaking Studio, and the Digital Studio.

The Screen Printing Studio and Media Arts Studios are limited-access, as they require the use of stairs. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have an elevator for accessibility to our upstairs and basement studio spaces. We are working toward becoming a more physically accessible space in the future!

Members and visitors are welcome to request assistance at any time, and we will accommodate, provided it can be done in a safe manner.
