Recounting and preserving the stories behind Hamilton's most notorious street.
Safeguarding the memories of a beloved street.
Barton Street Cultural History was a program aimed at helping to safeguard the personal memories and cultural history of Hamilton's beloved Barton Street. Hamiltonian residents 55+ were recruited to share their stories on record.
Seniors and youth worked together using storytelling and spoken word workshops, along with personal one-on-one interviews, to collect and share these stories about Barton Street — producing the short film Personal Stories of Barton Street's Past.
