Parthenon: Intermim seeks to capture a trajectory of development, using architectural motives to address the formation of monuments and their changing identity throughout history up to the present day. The gradual democratization of the monument, from a structure celebrating an individuals achievements, through celebrating collective accomplishments, into the present trend of digital monuments that, by their very presence, lend weight to a product (see hashtags, and other similar tags that exist in the extra-dimensional world of the Internet).
This work engages with the timelessness and simultaneously fleeting relevance of creating monuments, by creating structures that celebrate merely their own material constitution and the precarious equilibrium that a finished structure exists in the brief moment at the top of the parabola at which it hangs for an instant in finished perfection, before an inevitable decline.
