Songs of Love and Hate is a series of collagraphs that focuses on changes that occur through process and relationships. Just as time can be tracked in the development of a print, through shifts that occur as subsequent marks or layers are added, so can it be tracked in the evolution of a relationship, as memories and experiences are accumulated. Colours, like emotions, shift in curves and waves. Shapes overlay and transform. Like a mantra or a melody, they repeat and become a vibration, a murmur, their individual identity subsumed by the whole.

Each print in this series was made bv repeating a single shape. Rather than being cleaned after each pull, the ink was left on the plate and residual colour from one laver affected the next. This allowed colours to blend on the date and Interact on the paper, subjecting the work to the element or chance. As a result or this
process, each print is entirely unique and not part of an edition.
