Sayang weaves storytelling, photo-voice photography, orchid water cultures, and printmaking to share a personal autobiographical story of a family. A series of vignettes are presented to actualize dialogue on the complexities of newcomer/migrant families by decolonizing stereotypical narratives of Canadian-born Chinese. An emphasis is placed on family identities shaped by resiliency, sacrifice, labour, and unity in the face of adversity, and endearing love.
