Writing Engaging Exhibition Applications

In this 2 hour virtual workshop, participants will be guided through the step by step process of applying to the Centre[3] Members’ Gallery by exhibiting artist Maria Simmons. Simmons will provide feedback and help each participant workshop their proposals, including CVs, bios, artist statements, exhibition descriptions, and supporting visuals. Come at any stage of your application, but come open to share and talk about your ideas!

About The Instructor:

Maria Simmons is a hybrid artist living in Guelph, ON. She investigates potentialized environments through the creation of hybrid sculpture and installation. Her work embraces contamination as an act of collaboration. She collects garbage, grows mushrooms, ferments plants, and nurtures fruit flies. She makes art that eats itself. She holds an MFA from the University of Waterloo and a BFA from McMaster University. She has recently exhibited at Trinity Square Video, Xpace, The Plumb, Ed Video Media Art Centre, Art Gallery of Hamilton, and the Hamilton Artist Inc. She has completed residencies at Mustarinda, Finland, BioArt Society, Finland, Silent Barn in NYC, NY, and Factory Media Centre in Hamilton, ON.
